easy gratification. 

ahh how our garden has grown! 

as previously mentioned i wanted lush overgrown living arrangements (i.e. plants in dirt) for our centerpieces. obviously i decided to grow them myself.

for #weddingwednessday this week I'm going to do a final post about our seating chart! 

not to brag or anything, but last year victor and I had a pretty epic harvest:

one of my favorite gifts from victor came on Valentine's Day 2014 when for $19.99 he got me a rose bush from Whole Foods.

when I first moved to California in the fall of 2013 the drought was big news, so one of my first acts of gardening was planting six lavender plants, which are notoriously drought tolerant.

you may recall for our seating assignment display I was inspired by this pin: 

Maybe it's the election results or our recent binge watching of walking dead but these days I've been thinking a lot about my apocalypse plan.

i love tomatos.

a few weeks ago i came across this giant piece of bark in the woods behind our friend's house. 

over the past few years we've discovered a bunch of wacky stuff in our back yard: cast iron bath tub, vintage coke machine, and most recently several old disassembled engines.

so our offical wedding hashtag is #theredwoodweddingofmaggieandvictor and on loveauntmaggie it's #auntmaggiegetsmarried. But if I'm being honest these nuptials would better be summed up with something else all together: #putafernonit

This past year my favorite birthday present was a tie between:

- the very satisfying game of thrones  season finale

- the plant recipe book by baylor chapman that victor got me

my husband and i have distinctly different styles in the kitchen: victor will take the time to plan, shop for, and execute an awesome elaborate meal. whereas i use what we have in the house to whip up an awesome simple meal.

this is a soup i made last fall when i was pregnant (and very nauseous) with some vegetables we had on hand (butternut squash and sweet potatoes) the rest of the ingredients are pretty standard pantry staples for us.

also known as 'how maggie reached peak hipster'.

growing up in michigan this dish was known as 'corn relish' and traditionally served on thanksgiving.

however it's not really a relish, and it's definitely better suited for summer so i'm re-branding it as 'chilled summer vegtables' and my sisters will just have to deal.  

so back in college vic was known as "bro theme". we're alike in that way and these days we have quite the theme going on: lavender.
