swirly swingset skirt

as part of my stash busting initiative and quest to sew all the oliver + s patterns i recently made this swingset skirt for the toddler of a friend. 

i got both the white and fuschia fabric and the coordinating raspberry solid lining fabric on sale almost two years ago at stonemountain & daughter, and while beautiful i hadn't been able to find the right use for it until now.

for the sides i used straight stitch seams which were an excellent choice. as they looks good from the inside:

and like decrotive top stitching from the outside.

finally to keep the ribbon, another stash find, from slipping i used a vintage mother of pearl button left over from nora and etta's hopscotch skirts, which i originally purchased from this awesome etsy shop.
